SigmaTel Delivers FM Tuner Functionality to More Than 30 Design Houses in the Asia-Pacific Region

Taipei, Taiwan , 2006-06-06

SigmaTel Inc., (NASDAQ:SGTL), a leader in mixed-signal multimedia solutions, announced that its FM Tuner solution, the STFM1000, has gained traction throughout the Asia-Pacific region with more than 30 customer design wins including customers in Taiwan, Korea, China and Singapore. The STFM1000 is a companion processor for SigmaTel's STMP3500 and STMP3600 families of System on Chip (SoC) portable multimedia solutions and provides optimized radio architecture and support for U.S., Europe, Japan and Asia FM bands.

"Over 30 customers have designed in the STFM1000, including Changhong, LiteOn, Elelux, Digitech, MSI, Transcend, Luxpro and Taiwan Silicon Electronics," said Ron Edgerton, chairman and chief executive officer of SigmaTel.

"SigmaTel's FM Tuner solution allows customers to design unique form factors cost-effectively because of the minimal board footprint," Mr. Edgerton added.

The CMOS implementation provides a reduction in overall system cost and board area by integrating a number of external components typically required by competitive solutions. SigmaTel has filed several patent applications which describe various aspects of the STFM1000's innovative design.

"We have been extremely pleased with how easily the STFM1000 integrates with the STMP portable multimedia product family," said Mr. Liao Xiang Qiang, Deputy Director of Changhong. "We can offer a complete solution with enhanced radio functionality."
