Junling Liu, Amit Midha Named Co-Presidents of Dell's Fast-Growing China Business

Beijing, China , 2006-08-16

Dell today announced Junling Liu and Amit Midha will serve as co-presidents of the company's fast-growing, profitable business in China.

The company said the new leaders bring complementary skills and experiences to the shared role: Mr. Liu as an accomplished managing director in China, Mr. Midha as an effective practitioner and executive champion of Dell's unique, customer-focused direct business model. Dell uses the same type of two-person management structure with great success in several parts of its organization. Michael Dell, the company's chairman of the board, and Kevin Rollins, Dell's chief executive officer, have a similar partnership atop the organization.

"What we're achieving in China is exceptional, and Junling and Amit are ideal to oversee acceleration of our expansion in the country," said Steve Felice, president of Dell Asia-Pacific and Japan, to whom both men report as members of the company's Asia-Pacific and Japan leadership team. "We're growing strongly and profitably, because more and more customers in China are recognizing the superior value of direct relationships with Dell.

"Competitors are taking note of our capabilities and accomplishments, too. Their actions are further validating the fundamental advantages of our business model and our team."

Mr. Liu, a native of Hebei Province, joined Dell earlier this year. He returned to China recently after working closely for several months with the Dell Americas executive team in Round Rock, Texas, learning Dell Direct firsthand in preparation for his leading Dell China. As managing director of Avaya China, Mr. Liu created a performance-based culture that led the company to No. 1 in its industry. He also was general manager of Avaya's Asia Pacific Small and Medium Business Solutions Group, and held management positions with Openwave Systems Asia Pacific and Lucent Technologies Asia Pacific.

An 11-year member of the Dell team, Mr. Midha had been a sales director within Dell China. His broad range of Dell experience includes overseeing the company's Asia-Pacific and Japan marketing and industry-alliances functions. Previously, Mr. Midha led venture-investing and strategy activities for Dell's U.S. business.

Messrs. Liu and Midha succeed David Miller, who has left Dell.
