Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) crosses Rs 2000 crore Turnover and Rs 9000 crore Order Backlog

HCC has declared its Audited results for the quarter / year ended 31st March 2006, at the Board Meeting held on 28th April 2006. The highlights of the Company’s performance for the quarter are:

-- Growth of 29% in turnover at Rs 2028 crore as against Rs 1576 crore recorded in the previous year.
-- Profit before and after tax was at Rs 138 crore and Rs 124 crore respectively as against Rs 75 crore and Rs 74 crore for the previous year. However profits for current year includes extraordinary Income through the sale of development rights to the tune of Rs 40 crore.
-- The Company was awarded 14 new contracts awarded during the financial year, taking its balance order book position to Rs. 9692 crore. The corresponding order book position as at March 31, 2005 was Rs 5381crore.
-- The Board of Directors has recommended a dividend of Rs 0.70 per equity share at Rs 1 each

For the quarter ended March 31,2006 company has declared turnover of Rs 775 crore, Profit before and after tax of Rs 46 crore and Rs 44 crore as against turnover of Rs 525 crore and profit before and after tax at Rs 29 crore and Rs 46 crore respectively.

HCC was awarded 14 new contracts during the year, taking its balance order book position to Rs. 9692 crore. Major contracts include:

-- Godavari Lift Irrigation scheme – Phase II
-- Uri Hydroelectric Power Project – II Lot 1
-- Chamera Hydroelectric Power Project – Stage III Lot 1
-- Teesta Low Dam – Stage IV
-- Mughal Road
-- Saudi Pier Restoration Project

HCC also successfully completed its maiden GDS and FCCB issue of USD 100 million each on 31st March 2006.
