No speedbreaker in sight

roadband internet growth will propel the value of the entertainment and media industry worldwide, according to a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers report. According to the report, Global Entertainment and Media Outlook: 2005-2009, the worldwide entertainment and media business will be valued at $1.8 trillion by 2009.

The report says print publishers will cede ground to new media. The total spending from new revenue streams such as broadband and digital downloads will rocket from $11.4 billion to $73 billion over the next five years. Legal online distribution of games, videos and movies is also tipped to accelerate, countering the effect of piracy.... more
