From utility to charisma

amaha Motors India is buzzing with activity. Just four weeks after introducing actor-model John Abraham as its new brand ambassador and giving itself a new credo - Change the Rules - the company has launched three new variants of its existing bikes, Libero and Fazer. These are Libero G5, and Fazer DX and LX. The Fazer and Libero variants will add to Yamaha�s product basket in the executive segment (Rs 38,000-Rs 45,000), the largest section of the motorcycle market with a 54 per cent share.

With the launch of the new variants, the company is shifting focus from utility biking to lifestyle biking "with the aim to take biking to a new level". Says H Yanagi, chief executive officer, Yamaha Motor India, "We want to transform the market from utility to pleasure." Libero G5 Yamaha is priced at Rs 40,990. The 106-cc bike comes in four colours - red heat, silver lightning, yellow flash and blue streak. The bike has dust resistant drum brakes and a better suspension system and shock absorbers than the earlier avatar.... more
