upert Murdoch has launched a Metro-style free afternoon newspaper in Sydney, four years after establishing one in Melbourne. The paper, MX, will have a print run of 50,000 and be distributed at railway stations and newsagents at the city centre.
John Hartigan, the chief executive of Mr Murdoch�s Australian company, News Limited, said MX will be aimed at "young energetic professionals" aged 18 to 34. The new edition would bolster the Melbourne edition by giving advertisers a bigger audience. The paper has yet to make a profit, but the News Limited boss said he expected the Sydney edition to quickly alter that.
