Sweet woes

hey say that imitation is the best form of flattery. But going by the new Alpenliebe candy ad in which a kid embarasses his father by aping the latter�s hen-pecked behaviour in front of their family friends, this statement calls for some serious introspection.

The TVC goes like this. A boy, probably known for his immaculate imitation skills, is asked to do an aping jig by some visitors at home. Getting down to the act, he first showcases his father as a strict and dignified professional at office. He then goes on to enact his dad�s frivolous and jovial behaviour at parties. Just when the guests marvel at the man�s ability to hold his own both at office and at social gatherings, the kid imitates his dad as a hen-pecked husband washing clothes at home with much chagrin and self pity. Needless to say, in the next frame, both the boy�s parents, smug and proud until now, tries to hide their embarrassment. The ad ends with the line, "Ho gaya na kuch alag...achanak, jaise nayi Creamfills Alpenliebe."... more
