ighty Mouse is an animated superhero character created by the Terrytoons studio. But this is not about the cartoon character. Apple Computer has adopted the name of the toon character for its new Mac mouse and describes it as a next generation mouse. The name is used under licence from Viacom, owner of the Mighty Mouse cartoon series.

The design is similar to that of the current Mac mouse, with the seamless white plastic cover concealing the multiple buttons. Touch sensors, rather than actual buttons, detect a right, or left, click from the movement of the fingers. As for the other changes, the small grey scroll ball at the top lets the user take a 360-degree spin with just the flick of one finger - Apple calls it the mouse that reinvented the wheel.
