Mouse on Mumbai trains

n a move to upgrade the Indian market, US-headquartered Logitech, which manufactures and markets personal interface tools for digital products, is using Mumbai trains to advertise its new range of optical (no-ball) mouse, wireless keyboards and web cameras. It is not as if the company is disillusioned with the higher income groups - who prefer their own mode of conveyance to the packed Mumbai trains. The company says, awareness about products and prices has increased, pushing up demand for new generation products, such as cordless mice and keyboards, across all strata. In other words, there is a captive market in the train.

"World over the movement is towards optical and cordless technologies besides greater demand for more stylish products. The trends of the past couple of quarters in this country indicate a similar surge happening in India," says Sanjeev Shah, national marketing manager, Logitech Electronics India Pvt Ltd. ... more
