The new product uses CRP (Cathode Ray Panel) technology which pares down the bulge of the TV set. Conventional TVs based on CRT - Cathode Ray Technology - are rounded and occupy much space. This innovation on the regular CRT sets has brought down its thickness by a third.
SlimFit TV comes in a dual-tone black and silver chassis, with a black inner bezel to help enhance contrast. It also has slim side speakers. The SlimFit 32" TV is a high-end product targeted at well-to-do consumers who will be willing to pay for a larger viewing experience and better sound output.
The company will be trying to tempt buyers who might consider something better than a 29" flat TV which would be priced at about Rs 40,000 - but will reluctantly say no to an LCD screen which would typically be priced at about Rs one lakh. Functionality and style are the other factors that the Rs 69,000 SlimFit hopes will help distinguish itself from the competition.
