rom trendy watches to trendy eyewear. Titan has made a foray in the fashion accessories segment with the launch of FasTrack Eye Gear, its designer eyewear collection. Priced between Rs 695 and Rs 1,995, Eye Gear features a range of "bold, edgy and stylish" sunglasses, designed "to win over the young and the trendy".
The introduction of Eye Gear under the FasTrack brand is a calculated move on part of the company. By getting into the segment, the company hopes to address many issues at the same time. First, FasTrack wants to fill in a gap in the market as far as eyewear is concerned. The company�s research has shown that branded eyewear in the country is either too high-priced or the styles are too classy. "There was nothing that addressed the style needs of the young, with an affordable price tag," points out a company executive. Second, the products available in the mid-market category lacked quality assurance. "Not only does Eye Gear fulfill the desire of the fashion-conscious, it also comes with an affordability tag and credibility of the parent brand," points out Ajoy Chawla, business head, accessories and licensed brands, Titan Industries.
