Song and dance

ompetitive programming around dance and music has been around on Indian television for a long time. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) ventured into the dance-based programming genre with Boogie Woogie and Zee TV pioneered musical warfare-on-TV with Antakshari. But the last 12 months have been particularly hot with a variety of song and dance shows taking to the air.

SET has been the most bullish on this genre, floating Dance Dance in addition to its two true biggies: Indian Idol and Fame Gurukul. Star Plus recently introduced KaBoom Duniya Hila De, a fairly big hit of a dance show. Zoom has done its bit by introducing Dance Divas as well as Har Dil Jo Love Karega. And now Nach Baliye is about to hit the airwaves on STAR One.... more
