The second coming

ndian Idol was probably the best thing that could have happened to Sony Entertainment Television. At the height of the fever, it gave the channel a viewership peak of 14.3 TVRs. That was just the beginning, however.

Indian Idol was followed by Jassi's makeover, giving the channel its second big peak. Though Dance Dance came and went without a whimper, Sony's latest show, Fame Gurukul, is creating fresh excitement. The show, according to the ratings, is doing an average of 4 TVRs with a high of 6. Now, with the return of Indian Idol 2 in November, all eyes are on Sony again. Will the sequel be as successful as Indian Idol 1?... more
