n a first of its kind promotion, McDonald's has tied-up with mobile marketing firm Gamut Industries to distribute 'mCoup' coupons via SMS through mobile phones in Southern California. To avail of the offer which will run till November 13, customers have to send an SMS with the text 'McFlurry' to the given number. In return, they will receive a coupon for an ice cream dessert on their mobiles. Customers can redeem the coupon by showing the SMS to any McDonald's outlet, which will give them a unique code to avoid duplication.

McDonald's is promoting the offer through ads on buses, billboards and even skywriting through aeroplanes. Gamut has created a website, www.mobile-str33t.com, where customers can request the coupons. The site also offers download of mobile phone wallpapers and ringtones.... more
