here's something interesting about cosmetics especially colour cosmetics. They are advertised more through print than the electronic medium. Many cosmetic giants like Revlon, Maybelline, L'Oreal and Estee Lauder advertise their colour cosmetics - lipstick, eye shadow, eye makeup, nail enamels and blushers - more often in print.

According to AdEx, while only 23 cosmetic brand TVCs appeared in the last 12 months, there were a phenomenal 131 print ads in just six months. So why do these cosmetic brands prefer print rather than the electronic medium? "Colour cosmetic brands need to reach out to the upmarket evolved consumer. They probably advertise more in the print media since it reaches a niche audience. On TV, the product would reach a vast number of people, many of whom are not interested in cosmetics," says Priti Nair Chakravarthy, executive creative director, Lowe. Though Lowe does not handle advertising for any colour cosmetic brand, it does the creative for fairness cream, Fair and Lovely.... more
