With an Indian accent

here are enough entertainment shows and programmes on Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Pogo or Sahara to keep children hooked. Deviating from the clutter, Turner Network launched Sesame India, a Hindi adaptation of America's famous series, Sesame Street. Co-produced by Sesame Workshop, Turner International and Miditech, a Delhi-based production house, the show is expected to hit the small screen on Cartoon Network and Pogo by mid-2006.
Cookie Monster, Elmo, Ernie and Benny Rabbit from the original show have been replaced with Chamki, Aanchoo, Googly and Boombah. The puppets have been given Indian names and have been specially developed for the Indian series.
Sesame Workshop's mission is to create content that maximizes the educational power of media and help children reach their highest potential. The company has been working with local experts like teachers, language specialists, academics and others. But will the formulae be different from the parent company?
