on't blame the men. It is their wives who are the culprits. That's what the latest Saffola Gold ad hints at. If only, intones the ad, wives had used Saffola, their husbands wouldn't have had to struggle in the gym working off those extra calories.
"Aap khilaayein oily khana aur unhe padhe pachtana," goes the new Saffola Gold TVC. Slightly overweight, guilt-struck heroes chant names of delicacies like gulab jamun, jalebi, aloo puri and butter chicken while they do their penance. The TVC opens with a man struggling to do sit-ups on a floor mat, counting "Samosa ek, samosa do, samosa teen." The next scene shows a young man with a bulging tummy working on his shoulders in a gym. "gulab jamun� gulab jamun" he recites. The next person repents having eaten jalebis.
Scene 4 has a man running across a park muttering "butter chicken, butter chicken" while he crosses an out-of-breath runner who's binged on "aloo poori." Meanwhile, the MVO puts all the blame on oily "khana". As the lady in the kitchen pours Saffola Gold into a pan, the voice-over announces: "Apnaiye Saffola Gold with LOSORB technology. Aapke oil ke muqable 22 per cent tak kam absorb hota hai. Saffola Gold: Oil kam, pachtawa kam." ... more
