magine having your photograph flashed on a 45-foot tall digital sign in Times Square, New York. This is not a dream, but an unusual interactive promotion by TIME magazine to promote its 'Person of the Year' issue this year.
The magazine invited people around the world to submit digital headshots of their own or their kids, parents or friends to be projected on a huge electronic display located at 43rd Street and 7th Avenue, Times Square.
TIME has created a website, www.impoy.com, where people submitted their photographs. However, only the first 50,000 photographs received were run in the promotion. In addition, a team of photographers were deployed to take digital pictures of passers-by and transmit them directly onto the screen. The photographs also included 'Person of the Year' contenders like Lance Armstrong, Condoleezza Rice, George W. Bush, Bono and J.K. Rowling.... more
