Digital cinema

n a boost to China's digital movie market, the country's first private-owned digital cinema chain has been cleared by the state administrative authority.
The tickets at the Time Huaxia Digital Cinema Line will be priced between 5 to 10 yuan (US $0.6-1.2), much lower than conventional cinema halls with tickets costing more than 30, or even 100 yuan (US $12).
A few franchise cinemas have come up in Beijing, and in small and medium-seized cities of the Guangdong and Shanxi provinces. Four hundred franchise cinema halls are expected to come up by Time Huaxia by the end of the year. China is currently the second largest digital movie market in the world, after US. Digital technology in movies is based on digital projection instead of the traditional analogue technology, thus offering higher resolution and better colours.... more
