opular coffee chain Starbucks has emerged victorious in a copyright battle in China, which had been on since 2003. Starbucks had filed a lawsuit against Chinese coffee company Xingbake for logo and name infringement.
Apparently, the xing in Xingbake means 'star' and bake sounds similar to 'buck'. The coffee chain, which has 38 outlets in Shanghai, was also using a green circular logo similar to that of the American company. Starbucks, which has 9,671 outlets worldwide and 300 in China, had entered the Chinese market by opening its first outlet in Beijing in 1999.... more
