Reformatting newspapers

ewspaper readers are of the general opinion that a broadsheet stands for a 'serious' newspaper, whereas a tabloid is more on the lighter side. This perception is changing, however, as several newspapers from the UK are shifting from the broadsheet to tabloid format.

The broadsheet, measuring roughly 29.5 by 23.5 inches, is about double the size of a standard tabloid. The Independent was the first newspaper in the UK to convert to this format three years ago. The Times and Scotsman followed suit soon after. ... more
