retting about missed serials? Don't. Think of a DVD recorder the next time there is a chance that prior appointments will come in the way of watching a favourite TV programme.

Abroad, DVD recorders have been around for some time now with Philips, Sony, Pioneer and Matsushita launching the product a couple of years ago. But it's only now that marketers are waking up to the possibilities here in India. Consumer appliances maker Onida recently launched a DVD recorder priced at Rs 9,990. Unlike the plain vanilla DVD player, the recorder enables the user not only to play movies and MP3s, but also record songs, movies and other programmes from television. The recorder can also convert old VHS tapes and audio cassettes to a DVD format.... more
