Abroad, DVD recorders have been around for some time now with Philips, Sony, Pioneer and Matsushita launching the product a couple of years ago. But it's only now that marketers are waking up to the possibilities here in India. Consumer appliances maker Onida recently launched a DVD recorder priced at Rs 9,990. Unlike the plain vanilla DVD player, the recorder enables the user not only to play movies and MP3s, but also record songs, movies and other programmes from television.
