ndians no longer shy away from spending on luxuries. That's what a recent survey by The Knowledge Company (TKC) reveals. The survey, Luxury Trends 2006 - An Insight into the Affluent Indian Lifestyle, throws up facts that luxury marketers will find heartening.

The research team met with 4,000 affluent consumers in 12 cities across 17 product categories. And what constitutes an affluent consumer? According to TKC, a consumer who has two cars - at least one of them in the D segment - and has travelled overseas in the preceding six months and bought a luxury product (from TKC's list of luxury products) in the last six months qualifies. TKC also spoke to luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc, Regent, Ravissant and Swarovski to find out trends in luxury spending in India.... more
