nglish movie buffs have a new channel to look forward to. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) is launching PIX, a "premium" English movie channel. Commenting on the new introduction to the Sony family, Kunal Dasgupta, chief executive officer, SET India, says, "The launch of PIX strengthens our suite of SET India channels." N P Singh, chief operating officer, SET India, adds, "PIX attempts to be extremely contemporary, innovative, passionate, engaging and stylish." SET roped in Will Smith to kick off the proceedings.

All set to go on air on April 1, what does SET PIX have to offer? Says Gitanjali Murari, head, programming, SET PIX, "PIX will enhance the story telling experience. Its USP is that PIX is 'directed to a viewer who is mad about movies'." She also says that the channel has undertaken research to find out what the Indian viewers want to see on TV. The programming will consist of contemporary and classic Hollywood movies with 10 per cent of original programming.... more
