Now marketers are latching on to the concept too, joining in the match-making game in a bid to woo potential customers. Take Whirlpool, which has tied the knot with timesmatri.com to come up with a unique offer 'Bandhan Khushiyon ka' - Shagun, Swyamvar and Shubharambh. Given that couples about to set up home together inevitably buy home appliances, Whirlpool might have found the right match in timesmatri.com.

Although timesmatri.com, promoted by the Times of India group, was one of the last to launch a website in 2004, despite the popularity of the paper's matrimonial classifieds, it was one of the first to launch innovations like Swyamvar - a matrimonial fair. ... more
