oAir, the Mumbai-based carrier promoted by the Wadia Group, has jumped into the fare war with earnest. It has issued a challenge to all fliers: find a ticket cheaper than the airline's and GoAir promises to pay double the difference and even bear the cost of cancelling the other ticket. Through this campaign, titled 'The GoAir Challenge', the People's Airline clearly hopes to woo more passengers into its aisles.
Raj Halve, chief commercial officer, GoAir, explains how it works, "If the price paid for the ticket bought on a competing airline is lower than the price paid for the GoAir ticket, then the airlines will adjust double the difference between the fare of the GoAir ticket sold to the person and the fare of the other airline as credit which can be used to purchase GoAir tickets." ... more
