Indecent exposure

he Federal Communications Commission (FCC), USA has made its decision public in response to the complaints of over 300,000 people about the broadcast of indecent, profane or obscene television programmes. This involves complaints of over 50 TV programmes broadcast between February 2002 and March 2005. The response by FCC reflects the growing public concern about the content in TV programming.

FCC has upheld its decision against CBS Network for broadcast of the Janet Jackson 'wardrobe malfunction' during the February 2004 Super Bowl. It has rejected the network's claim that the broadcast was not 'indecent.' The Commission maintains that CBS "wilfully failed to take actions to prevent the broadcast of the material, and CBS is responsible for the halftime show." ... more
