Bolt from the blue

ocial networking website Bolt Media (www.bolt.com) conducted an online survey of 16 to 34 year olds, which threw up some interesting results. Eighty five per cent of the respondents said they spent their free time surfing the Internet, compared to 69 per cent who said their free time was spent watching television. But the surprising part is that four out of five of the people surveyed aged 16-18 years could not name the top four American TV networks. In fact, 25-34 year olds were twice more likely to name these networks than their younger counterparts. Further, one in three people under 34 years of age could not name a single TV network.

The survey also showed that more people preferred watching movies at the theatre (71 per cent) than television in their free time. On television, FOX network was watched more often, with 65 per cent of the people surveyed watching it, followed by Comedy Central with 57 per cent. While the male respondents are more likely to watch Comedy Central and Cartoon Network, the female respondents are likely to watch VH1, WB and Nick at Nite. ... more
