euters (reuters.com) has changed its mobile business from a subscription model to a completely ad supported model. Reuters, like other news agencies like Gawker and AP, had charged consumers a small monthly fee. Now, however, it has eliminated all cost to the consumer and is all set to launch a revamped and wholly ad supported site. The site can be accessed at mobile.reuters.com.

The relaunched mobile site also offers new tools and expanded news categories for consumers. Advertisers will also have the opportunity to procure a sponsored category. The exclusive advertiser on the site right now is Hewlett-Packard (HP), which will tout its new range of colour laser printers. The HP (hp.com) campaign will include ads, not only on reuters.com but also within Reuters RSS feeds. Banner ads for HP on the mobile site will allow users to click through to a customised landing page which will allow further interaction with the advertiser. ... more
