n a report released by Amnesty International (www.amnesty.org), technology giants Yahoo, Google and Microsoft were rebuked for not establishing a stronger stance on human rights by revealing more details about how they're filtering information and cooperating with the government in China. The report stated that the businesses were not holding up their corporate principals, nor were they following international human rights guidelines. It also said that the Chinese users weren't able to express themselves freely nor access as much information as they could.

Yahoo, Microsoft and, most recently, Google have been held up repeatedly for cooperating with the Chinese government. Recently, Yahoo has also been accused of releasing personal information about journalists who were later imprisoned. Meanwhile, the companies have defended their decisions, pleading that they must follow local laws in the countries where they conduct business. ... more
