he latest title on which publishers have pulled the plug is Hachette Filipacchi Media US's For Me magazine. The monthly spin-off magazine of Woman's Day that debuted in May 2005, after a test issue in November 2004, is no longer going to be available on newsstands.
For Me was conceived to compete for the 25- 35- year- old crowd. But its newsstand-centric business model proved its undoing. Employees of the company were told that the newsstand sales of the magazine were way too insufficient to continue the publication. Its October issue will be the final issue. Coincidentally, For Me was Hachette's first launch after Elle Girl; it now becomes Hachette's first shut-down since the company closed Elle Girl's print edition earlier this year.... more
