Idiot Box in web tangle

hat TV was getting trumped by the internet is old news. If a news study conducted by MindShare Online Research group is to be believed, the idiot box is taking a beating on its home turf. Young people (teens and pre-teens) are increasingly watching television on the Internet. Apart from the above, the survey explored how kids and teens use digital media and technology as well as their habits related to the internet, iPods and cell phones.

The survey polled 800 kids between the ages of 8 and 17 and split equally between the sexes. A third of the respondents aged 12-17 and a fourth of those aged 8-12 said they view television programming on the internet. About 12 per cent also said they watch programming on their video game systems. Few respondents, however, admitted to watching TV on their cell phone or iPod or other MP3 player. ... more
