The website challenge

t looks like the newspaper websites are giving daily newspapers a complex. The hits are unending. During the six months ending this September, total daily circulation, in the US, sank 2.8 per cent, compared to the same period last year. Sunday circulation dropped 3.4 per cent but the newspaper web sites are prospering.

These figures are noticeable print increases from the last FAS-FAX report (an ABC quarterly report of top-line circulation data), which covered the six-month period up to March 2006, and showed daily circulation fall 2.5 per cent from last year, and Sunday circulation down 3.1 per cent which is a worrying factor for everyone concerned, as Sunday editions tend to indicate future trends for advertising revenue.... more
