This was revealed by a new survey conducted by Home Electronics Journal (HEJ), one of the popular e-mail newsletters published by Thomas, Townsend & Kent (TTK). The study also reveals that about 93.3 per cent of affluent Americans always research about the product they want to buy on the internet before stepping inside the nearest Best Buy or Circuit City to actually buy the items.
In this new national study, conducted with market intelligence firm BIGresearch, the affluent segment among the 2,108 respondents (those from households with income of $100,000 or more), reported that their online research was conducted using a combination of search engines (62.8 per cent), product websites (62.2 per cent), and e-mail newsletters (27.5 per cent). For the purchase of electronics products, an overwhelming majority stated that their preferred retailer is Best Buy (72.8 per cent), followed by Circuit City (45.1 per cent), and Wal-Mart (26.3 per cent).... more
