n 2005, there were an estimated 31.7 million diabetic patients in India and the figure is likely to rise to 79.4 million by 2030. Looking to target these numbers, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, has come up with a unique insurance scheme Diabetes Care, that was launched on November 14, World Diabetes Day.
"When we scanned the global environment, we realised that despite the huge need, there was no insurance product specifically tailored for diabetic individuals. With over 20 per cent of the world's diabetic individuals in India, there is an urgent need for a solution that both encourages and incentivises them to manage their condition better and also offer them a financial cushion should they suffer from any related critical illnesses.
