y father always told me that to be a good cricketer, first and foremost, one has to be a great student of the game. Sadly, I didn't take his advice. As a result, the furthest I progressed was being a fringe player on state level junior teams. As several years of failure passed by, so did my disappointed father, and my vagrant feet finally screeched to a hesitant halt outside the doors of advertising.
I'll never know when, why and how I finally realised the true emotion behind his advice. Maybe it was because I was at last doing something I liked genuinely. Perhaps it was my last chance at resurrecting myself. Or simply, like most copywriters, I didn't have a guide or teacher to learn from first hand.... more
