Walter Thomson (JWT), India�s largest advertising agency, recently floated a specialised unit, JWT Feature, a script shop dedicated to developing film scripts. It will use in-house talent and if needed, will associate with scriptwriters in the Hindi film industry. Ramki (D Ramakrishna), creative head of JWT, Mumbai, heads the unit.
"Bollywood is in a renascent stage and one of the changes is the new crop of young directors making small budget films without big stars. And more than a few are meeting with success," explains Tarun Rai, vice-president, JWT, Mumbai. "The lack of star appeal in these movies," states Rai, "leads to the need of a stronger script. That is where the idea of JWT Feature was born".
