At over six feet tall and with a stentorian voice (a possible throwback to his army background - given that he is the son of Gen (Retd.) KV Krishna Rao, former chief of army and government of Jammu & Kashmir staff.) the new CEO of NDTV Group can best be described as imposing. Yet, the former director of human resources, administration and operations at NDTV completely lacks in CEO superciliousness.
Rao has been with NDTV for the past 12 years. He was brought in as the general manager in 1995 and joined the board in 1998. When NDTV went public in 2004, he became the executive director of the company. He had a dual-edged role, handling operations, human resources and administration in a direct way; and also keping an overview of the company and its activities as a board member.
