annett, the largest newspaper firm in America, has bought a company that produces student-run newspapers in Florida. Knight Publishing operates the Central Florida Future, the University of Central Florida's student newspaper; and the Seminole Chronicle, a weekly newspaper in Orlando. This is the second such acquisition made by Gannett within the year. Last year, Gannett bought Florida State University's student paper, the FSView and Florida Flambeau.

The Central Florida Future is distributed free, thrice a week during the academic year. It has a circulation of 15,000.The newspapers' operations are not affected by their acquisition. They continue to be run by students.... more
