ickelodeon, the children's TV channel run by Viacom, has launched an online virtual world, Nicktropolis. The site is similar to Second Life, a virtual world which has gained tremendous popularity among gamers, programmers and the media.

At Nicktropolis, children can create their avatar according to their preferences in hairstyle, clothing and so on. The avatar can then visit stores, amusement parks and their friends' virtual rooms. Avatars can even watch the most popular Nickelodeon shows on Nicktropolis. ... more
