Bored to death

he Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), has seen a number of recent creative campaigns, including an interactive website called yourpointofview.com. Another campaign to join this list is 'Live More' - for the bank's credit cards.

The campaign has been conceived by Contract Advertising. The TVC opens on a man sitting idle at home, throwing paper balls into a wastepaper basket. Then, we hear a hairdryer and he gets up and observes his wife drying her hair. Suddenly he says, "Lao, main kar du"and she looks at him in bewilderment. He then offers to help his mother with the knitting, and receives a strange look from her too. He then wants to feed his son, who gives him a weird look and ignores the offer. The voice-over says, "With internet banking and repayment cheque pickups, your HSBC credit card saves you time, so you can enjoy life. What you do with it, is up to you." The man is seen telling his maid who is vacuuming, "Chhodo, main kar deta hoon", leaving her dumbfounded. The ad ends with the VO saying "HSBC Credit Cards. Live More".... more
