ikhail Gorbachev is to be a part of a LouisVuitton print ad. The campaign is being developed by Ogilvy & Mather. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, the new campaign features Gorbachev wearing a pinstriped suit and a heavy overcoat, with a Vuitton bag placed casually on the back seat of a Khrushchev-era Soviet limousine, driving along a remnant of the Berlin Wall. Gorbachev's presence in the ad is the result of a strategic rethink by the French fashion house.

Aimed at 'broadening the appeal' of the brand, the campaign will re-position Louis Vuitton products as more than just fashion accessories. The ads will continue to appear in fashion magazines. ... more
