his one foxed us. While watching the regular news channels in English or Hindi, if you feel suddenly find yourself on a Chinese channel, then you too will be. It takes a while, before you realise that you are watching the latest TVC for HIT � the insect repellent spray.

The TVC opens with a visibly worried Chinese television presenter asking a reporter about the ground situation in Shanghai. The reporter, presumably, talks about the city teeming with cockroaches. As she is reporting, the camera moves in to capture the swarm of cockroaches crawling out on the streets. Soon they even crawl on to the camera lens and the studio loses contact with the reporter. Another shot in yet another city in China, shows the sky being clouded with a swarm of mosquitoes and again the television studio loses contact with the reporter on ground. The television channel blacks out. The film cuts to show a map of India with images of women holding HIT cans. A cheeky voice-over says � Ab desh bhar mein sirf Rs 49 ka HIT. Ab cockroach, macchar bharat chodo. Dhundo naya desh.... more
