t is good news for retailers and manufacturers as people spend more and more money to shape their dream homes. Cashing in on the trend, Godrej Furniture and Interiors group opened its first showroom in the national capital region of Noida recently. The showroom, under its Perfect Home brand, will provide a range of home products from bedroom and sofa sets, kitchen and dining sets to furniture for children�s rooms. The one-stop shop offers a competitive price range with bedroom sets priced as low as Rs 22,000 and three-seater sofas priced at upwards of Rs 11,000.
The Noida showroom is part of Godrej�s ambitious plans in the retail arena. This year, Godrej Retailing - the division that sells the entire range of Godrej products such as home and office furniture, security appliances and locks from its 33 showrooms in 20 cities - has serious plans of expanding its network. This entails adding 17 more outlets to the chain, taking it to 50 in the next two years. The current financial year would see 10 of these coming up. Priority destinations include Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune besides smaller cities like Bhubaneswar and Ranchi. From a turnover of Rs 30 crore in 2003-04, the division is targeting Rs 45 crore in 2004-2005, posting a growth of 50 per cent.
