Bean there, done that

t is the beverage of the moment. Coffee, in all its exotic avatars, seems to have taken urban India by storm, making itself comfortable everywhere, from canteen tables to plush restaurants and hip cafeterias.

The latest member of the coffee club is Javagreen, which opened its first outlet in Chennai last year but has big plans for this year. Funded internally by Reliance and headed by Nina Kothari (daughter of Dhirubhai Ambani), the chain operates as a store-in-store concept in Reliance WebWorlds. Currently, it has 87 outlets in nine cities (Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata). It plans to set up another 200 outlets by the end of the year, taking its footprint to 15 cities. Flagship stores and store-in-stores across the country are also on the anvil. ... more
