Your article on Dabur Foods (The Real promise, October 16-31) has highlighted a very good point. Dabur Foods needs to grow out of its dependence on Real in the same way that Dabur India has to move beyond products like Chyawanprash and Hajmola. Dabur seems to be dabbling with new products in quite a few categories, but it is yet to get a big hit. The problem, to a large extent, has to do with the Dabur imagery. If it has to succeed in the FMCG market it has to be agile and youthful like rivals HLL and Pepsi Foods. I guess it is never too late to make a beginning. Why not start with some fresh advertising ideas?
