n October 1995, when Sony Entertainment Television (SET) was launched in India, one of its initial prime time offerings was Aahat (Thursdays nights, 9:30 pm). It more or less defined the horror genre on Indian television. Ever since its runaway success, the supernatural thriller has become a constant on Indian television. Aahat played for six years and did about 300 episodes before it was finally taken off in 2001.
The channel said at the time that it would be back in six months but the break turned out to be significantly longer. In its heyday, the programme was a serious puller of terrified eyeballs. It is not surprising therefore, that it is back once again, this time as Aahat 2. The sequel - if it can be called that - was launched on November 19.
