The final frontier

hey say, music knows no barriers, and music channel MTV seriously believes it�s so. Consolidating its global presence, MTV, will be available in Africa from February next year. MTV Base in Africa, the network�s 100th channel, will feature 24-hour, English-language programming catering to the musical tastes of African youth and carrying popular MTV shows such as Cribs and Making the Video.

The channel will be available in 48 sub-Saharan countries through satellite, with its African-produced programming initially coordinated out of London. "We�re very excited, because Africa represents the final frontier of our vision in a way," said Bill Roedy, president of MTV Networks International.
