s revolutions go, five years is a short time. 1999-2004. In that period, the digital camera has undone photography as the world has known it since it began in 1888. The first ripples of that distant tsunami (tidal wave) are now touching India�s shores.

From virtually nothing, about 70,000 digicams were sold in India in 2003. Sales will keep roughly doubling annually over the next few years, taking a Rs 100-crore market shooting to Rs 600 crore by 2007.
