he Euro 3.180-billion French telecommunication company is in India. Compared to the blitz of the Taiwanese BenQ and the Chinese Bird, Sagem�s arrival has been... well... tame. But it is making its presence felt in mini-metros and smaller cities, such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Pune and Jalgaon among others. These areas are where the volumes come from at the moment, says the company.
Officially, Sagem was introduced in India in December 2003; but the market placement took place in first week of January 2004. "India, being the second most populated country on the globe, is important for any consumer brand. However, Sagem has specifically put Asia Pacific on priority in its plan of action," says Avinash Pathak, general manager (telecommunications), Sagem India.
